God Father
The scene starts with a close up the character, Michael. This is used because it shows the character's emotion as he enters the place. When Michael was inside, he was greet with Sollozzo and McCluskey. However there other people there as well. Strangely we don't hear other people talking to each other, just their conversation. This shows that Michael is so focused on Sollozzo, he ignores other people. This is because Sollozzo is his assassination target therefore he must stay focused on him even Michael's eyes were looking at Sollozzo most of the time and he has very little time to care about the small details. When they were talking, The whole restaurant kind of echoes with just their voices. This represents that Michael and Sollozzo are completely alone.
There is also a non-diegetic sound that is happening inside Michael's head. The train sound. It makes the audience wonder if there was an actual train in the scene as the audience don't actually see the train anywhere in the scene, just the sound of the train. Therefore this means that the other two characters,Sollozzo and McCluskey cannot hear the sound of the train which makes it non-diegetic. Furthermore, the director used the sound of trains inside Michael's head is to show that Michael is on edge with the assassination and he must decide whether to board the train or not, basically making a decision of should he kill Sollozzo or not and he must make it quick as Michael can hear the train stopping at a station. Also the diegetic sound of the gun shot sounds quite familiar form the wine bottle the waitress opened earlier on the scene and it was unexpected when Michael will shoot him just like the waitress opening the bottle as he took some time to open it.
