- 'The Girl' is a film that outlines the making of The Birds and includes scenes such as -
- 'Hitchcock' making unwanted advances toward 'Hedren'
- 'Hedren' being subjected to gruelling work on set, including having 'Hitchcock' throw stuffed birds at her without warning - In real life, Hitchcock apparently made her work in an attic with live birds for 5 days, from which she suffered cuts to her face
- She is quoted as saying that Hitchcock "ruined my career, but he didn't ruin my life" “I was dealing with one of the most powerful men in motion pictures and it was difficult, embarrassing and insulting. He said, 'If you leave, I’ll ruin your career.’ And he did.”

- "I don't know how autobiographical the film (Vertigo) was - or even if it was"
- The two had a 'challenging work relationship' but Novak said she wasn't subjected to any advances, unlike the likes of Hedren, saying "Maybe I just wasn't his type"
- She described him as a "really fine gentleman"
- One of Hitchcock's favourite actresses, he would become one of her last 'mentors'
- Kelly and Hitchcock 'shared a close bond of humour and admiration'
- However, sometimes minor strife would emerge on set
- Hitchcock's films, particularly Rear Window, allowed her to be an 'independent career woman'
